OUR STORY
81 Designs is founded by both Nadine Y Maalouf and Nesrine El Tibi Maalouf. The social enterprise empowers women artisans through design and art. The initiative also focuses on these women, by building on their skills and confidence at a workshop in South Lebanon.
81 Designs, in collaboration with artists from MENA region, serves as a platform for refugee women artisans to showcase their talent and creativity.
WHAT WE DO
We are a social enterprise. We provide capacity building and employment for refugee women artisans.We capacity build and revive artisan skills among refugee women who need a renewed sense of purpose in life by providing them with the training, equipment, and emotional support that will empower them. Our goal is to preserve traditional “tatreez” techniques by using them to interpret modern designs.
